Chris Sutton makes Celtic transfer prediction after departure

Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has suggested that the club’s decision to sell Oh to Belgian side Genk means that they are confident in bringing Adam Idah in on a permanent basis. The Irishman impressed during his second half of the season loan but has since returned to Norwich City.

Celtic have had a bid thrown out for Idah, which was said to be £4m. However, Sutton said in his Record Sport column that he thinks a deal will be forthcoming.

“The decision to allow Hyeongyu Oh to leave suggests to me Celtic are confident they will get Adam Idah back – despite some of the noises from Norwich.

“I’m sure Rodgers would have preferred to have him on board for the US but the good thing about Idah is they know all about him and he wouldn’t need time to settle in.

“Celtic can afford to wait until the deal is right and he’ll walk back into the set-up without too much fuss.

“Rodgers will need another striker though as Kyogo is the only one they have got right now. Even if Idah arrives, it still leaves them at least one short with Rocco Vata also heading for the door.

“The third forward role is a tough sell as game time won’t be a given. It could be back to the same formula as the keeper with either an experienced campaigner or a young prospect coming in.

“Regardless of the profile, Celtic do need another option up top. Rodgers has got the ball rolling in the transfer market but there is still a lot of work to be done.“

Norwich have said that they intend on keeping Idah for their forthcoming Championship campaign. However, Celtic are expected to return to test their resolve with a £6m+ bid for the Irishman.

The 23-year-old scored 9 goals and assisted once in 19 appearances and most of these came from the bench. The striker scored some big goals as Celtic won a League & Cup Double and the manager made it clear that he was a priority this summer. If the player’s social media is anything to go by, he is also keen on a deal being done.

  1. No one actually knows what figure Norwich actually have got in mind for idah at present?
Would say that they are being totally unrealistic with the figure they have in mind?
Especially if it was the 6M being floated around, then I would have said that the deal would have been concluded by now imo?
Norwich can continue to play Russian roulette as long as they like, the same way we can turn our attention elsewhere?
6M seems a fair price imo, especially if Norwich could end up with idah who clearly doesn’t see his future there, but still a fan base has to be kept content, especially with a new manager in place?
Would guess and say that this week coming could be the end of our time limit upon a deal for idah, with ourselves in the USA?
Still believe Rodgers will make the decision as to whether we continue with the waiting game or start looking elsewhere?
Could already be a potential list of other targets already in place for all we know also?
Of course the board remains the target over such delays, but a deal for idah isn’t within our own hands either at present?
Such decisions as these regarding idah will remain with Rodgers in the time delays, yet no-one has a clue what Rodgers current position is upon this saga either?
Personally believe comman sense will eventually kick in this week, especially at present both ourselves and Norwich stand to lose out, with Norwich more so than ourselves imo?
