RYAN CHRISTIE and Scott Allan will meet with Brendan Rodgers shortly to discuss whether they have a future at Celtic.

Both players have returned from loan spells and have impressed Rodgers in the pre-season period but the Celtic manager is unsure whether he will be in a position to offer the players game time in the new campaign.

And that could signal the end of the road for both players at Celtic.

“Both boys have come in and done very well in pre-season,” Brendan said yesterday.

“They are players who have been playing regularly elsewhere and both can come in and be part of a Celtic squad.

“Ryan and Scott both have big talents. But can I give them the game time they want?

“That’s the only question mark and that’s a conversation we’ll have.”

Hibs have gone very quiet on Allan returning to Easter Road after his very successful loan period there in the second half of last season. It is something of a mystery why Neil Lennon has cooled his interest in a player he was very eager to sign a few months ago.

Derek McInnes would be delighted to welcome Christie back to Pittodrie but the financial aspect of any deal may prove to be a stumbling block.

Both players may choose to sit it out on the Celtic bench in the hope that circumstances will provide them with an opportunity.

And the one additional midfielder that Rodgers wants to bring in – John McGinn at Hibs – may well be delayed until January assuming that Hibs refuse to budge on their over the top valuation of a player entering his final year of his contract at Easter Road.

Perhaps Celtic will get McGinn with both Allan and Christie joining Neil Lennon’s side on loan as they see out their own time at Celtic? That would give Hibs a HUGE boost…
