Christopher Jullien is nearing his Celtic exit, according to reports. After an update on social media, which the player quickly deleted, supporters were quickly speculating that the player was nearing the off.

According to The Sun, Jullien is a target for German side Schalke as well as French sides Rennes and Lorient. The player has just a year remaining on his deal and with Ange Postecoglou preferring the pairing of Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers at the back, it appears that Jullien has played his last match for Celtic.

After arriving for £7m from Toulouse in the summer of 2019, Jullien was a mainstay in the Quadruple Treble side before an injury in the December of 2020 put the brakes on his career. Ange Postecoglou’s arrival and his return to fitness saw limited game time on the park with a cameo against Raith Rovers all the Frenchman could show for the previous campaign.

The player has made 62 appearances in his time at Celtic, winning three trophies at his time at the club. Impressively, he scored ten goals in his time at the club, including that late winner over Lazio and then the Cup Final win over Rangers.

It would be good if Celtic could reinvest the wages of Jullien around the squad and attempt to bring in another central defender to provide competition to the backline.
