It is widely expected that Ryan Christie will depart Celtic football Club at some stage in the near future. However, reports have now shown that the player could leave on a pre-contract arrangement as early as this summer.

Christie is out of contract next January, which means that he could be eligible to speak to other clubs as early as June. With a number of clubs interested in the midfielder (according to The Mail on Sunday), this news is concerning for the Celtic board as the club could miss out on a transfer fee.

Christie will be playing for Scotland in EURO 2020 this summer, which provides suitors with an ideal opportunity to run the rule over his talents before any potential negotiations. French club Nice are thought to be interested in signing him, whilst Burnley were among the front runners in England last year.

Whatever ensues, it’s important that Celtic try to arrange some sort of contract extension to ensure that the club gets some compensation to help finance the rebuild at Paradise.
