CRAIG GORDON has announced his departure from Celtic in an emotional post on Instagram. The goalkeeper spent six years with the Scottish Champions before his contract ended this summer and no deal could be agreed to retain him as the club look towards winning 10IAR.

In the post, Gordon thanked the club, the staff, his teammates and the supporters who have supported him during his trophy laden spell with the Scottish Champions. Gordon was a true servant and managed to showcase why Sunderland once paid £9m for him with some incredible performances in his debut season under Ronny Deila as well as being a colossus at the back during his time at the club.

Gordon rejected a new contract on reduced wages with Neil Lennon’s side and a move to Hearts appears to be the most plausible. The Tynecastle club and Derby County have been linked with taking Gordon, who has played just six games for Celtic since the beginning of 2019.

Gordon’s future appeared to be away from Celtic after the ‘keeper spoke to the media last week about the breakdown in talks with the Scottish Champions. At 37, Gordon is in the twilight of his career and will need to play games in order to achieve a call-up to Steve Clarke’s EURO2020 play-off squad.

The moment when Tom Rogic’s shot hit the net and Gordon collapsed to the ground celebrating will live long in the memory of those associated with the football club. Gordon leaves Celtic as an Invincible, having won 6 League titles, 5 League Cups and 3 Scottish Cups and will always be welcome back at the club.

All the best in the future, Craig.
