This afternoon’s game at Kilmarnock is of course one we are seeking to win. Another three points will see us being just six points shy of retaining our title. Celtic are currently nine points ahead of theRangers after their 5-2 win over St Mirren at Ibrox yesterday and before Michael Beale’s side play again – against Aberdeen at Pittodrie a week today – Celtic have two matches and a chance to pick up sis points to go 15 points clear going into the five remaining matches, post split.

In our last league outing at Kilmarnock we ran out convincing winners thumping the Ayrshire outfit 5-0. I don’t think we will get it as easy today, not with Killie now slumped in the relegation play off position thanks to Dundee United’s victory over Motherwell yesterday.

As much as we are fighting to clinch the title, Kilmarnock are battling just as hard to beat relegation. This is the part of the campaign where teams are fighting for titles, European spots and against the dreaded drop. Anything can happen so we need to be on our toes today.

Celtic need to go in for the kill, none of the sloppiness we have witnessed in the past few weeks. Today will be a tough test against a team of hammer throwers on an awful surface. They will be up for it and in our faces make no mistake. Derek McInnes will make sure of that.

Ange has been in Scotland long enough now to know the script. He’s no mug, his game plan won’t change, but he’ll have the side well versed and fully prepared for Kilmarnock’s game plan. If we come out and play the game to the best of our abilities we will win comfortably, I’m supremely confident about a victory today.

Let’s hope that confidence proves to be fully vindicated, and later today we will only be two wins away from retaining our title, or perhaps in-form Aberdeen will have their say next Sunday when they take on theRangers at Pittodrie.

If Celtic can win today then beat Motherwell on Saturday, we will be 15 points clear before theRangers play their next match up at Pittodrie. And if Aberdeen win next Sunday then with just five games remaining Celtic could only be caught on goal difference and we’re already 26 ahead on that front! You’d have to add two winning margins against Kilmarnock and Motherwell and factor in Aberdeen’s winning margin to calculate the extent of the task that would then face theRangers going into the King’s Coronation celebrations.
