Following on from this evening’s Champions League clash with Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium, focus will shift swiftly back onto domestic duties this weekend with as a trip to Firpark awaits.

Motherwell’s good start to the season

Stuart Kettlewell’s side have started the season well, sitting fifth in the Premiership table languishing only two points behind Jim Goodwin’s Dundee United in fourth and only three points off Phillipe Clement’s struggling (and angry) Bears in third position.

The Steelmen also reached the semi-final of the Scottish League Cup having defeated the Tangerines 2-1 in the quarter-final last month. Motherwell’s disappointing 1-0 defeat to Dundee in Lanarkshire on Saturday was only Kettlewell’s third loss of the season in all competitions.

Celtic aiming to get back on track

Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers will be making sure his players get back on track this Sunday after dropping two points versus Aberdeen at Celtic Park last weekend. Aberdeen were the first of 167 Scottish teams who have gone 2-0 down in Glasgow’s East End, in over 14 years, to come back and take something from the game.

Jimmy Thelin’s rampant Dons can remarkably go ahead of the Hoops in the table with a victory at Pittodrie on Saturday evening against an in form Dundee United. Aberdeen will be looking at getting the three points to set them up for the midweek visit from theRangers where they could open a significant gap on the latest Ibrox club.
