Gustaf Lagerbielke appears to have confirmed that he is due to fly to Glasgow to sign for Celtic. The 23-year-old started in Elfsborg’s defeat against Hammarby today while Brendan Rodgers’ side beat Aberdeen.
With a deal appearing to be in place on the fee – £3m – Lagerbielke has all but confirmed that he will be headed to sign for the Scottish Champions in an interview following the match.
Celtic have been looking to replace big Swede Carl Starfelt, who left for Celta Vigo earlier this week. Lagerbielke certainly looks as if he is a younger, able player that will be competing with Cameron Carter-Vickers and Maik Nawrocki for a place in the team.
It is believed that the player’s agent met with Celtic last weekend to iron out personal terms as it appeared that Lagerbielke would join up with the biggest team in the country. Ajax have also been cited on social media as being interested in signing the player.
Celtic have Stephen Welsh, Liam Scales and Yuki Kobayashi currently on the periphery of Brendan’s plans. Nawrocki and Carter-Vickers will be the central pairing moving forward.
