NEIL LENNON has hit back at the Green Brigade banner outside Celtic Park this morning calling for him to step down as manager. The prominent supporters group posted a message on Twitter and arrived at the stadium with a banner, which has divided the support.

The Irishman said that the players and management will get better and that the hysteria at the moment from the majority of supporters is a cocktail of Rangers starting well and a frustration at not getting to games. Celtic have won just twice in eight games, a shockingly bad record that needs to be rectified immediately.

The Celtic manager was speaking ahead of the Europa League Group H clash with Sparta Prague, that we must win or face elimination from Europe’s second competition after just four matches. Listen to his thoughts below:

Celtic are 11 points behind Rangers but have two games in hand – this could potentially stretch to 14 as Rangers will play on the weekend of the Scottish Cup Final. With that in mind, on the domestic front, Celtic have a fine run of fixtures that the team would eye maximum points and a fair amount of goals from.

The board have seemingly backed Lennon and if that is their decision, we must support him and the team as the in-fighting will only weaken us. Whilst I believe a new manager would have been ideal in kickstarting the season, the board’s decision not to make a decision acts as an endorsement for Lennon – despite leaving him high and dry.
