Leon Balogun was sent off for hauling Daizen Maeda to the deck in the second half. The central defender lost the ball allowing Kyogo to play his compatriot through, leaving the Nigerian centre half second best to get to the ball. Balogun was shown a red card by referee Nick Walsh and given his marching orders.

As Balogun walked off, he was jeered by the Celtic fans – probably more so because he pushed Greg Taylor as he left the field. What happened next isn’t clear from footage; however, fan footage appears to show the defender engaged in some severe misconduct.

The comment section suggests that Balogun has engaged in behaviour that would warrant a further ban by footballing authorities.

It remains to be seen whether there is anything in what happened as Balogun went up the tunnel. Rangers decided in the aftermath of the game that they would focus on scrutinising the (correct) decision making in the first half flash point that saw the Ibrox club shout for a hand ball against Alistair Johnston.
