Celtic’s new CEO Dom McKay yesterday confirmed that outgoing CEO Peter Lawwell will remain involved at the club for the next two years to allow him to continue his role act the ECA, the European Club Association. McKay believes this to be crucial not only to Celtic but also for Scottish football to have the vastly experienced senior executive fulfilling that remit and to do so Peter Lawwell will have to remain associated with the club.

“Peter will certainly finish up at the end of this month with his responsibilities at Celtic,” McKay told the Fan media conference in the Kerrydale Suite at Celtic Park yesterday.
“He’ll extend — we’ve got two years left to go on the ECA, the European Club Association. And that’s a really important role, for Scotland and for the club, to have a representative there. He’ll stay engaged with that.
“And what’s been brilliant during the whole transition, Peter has been fantastic for me. But he’s achieved so much, he’s been kind enough to say he’s at the end of the phone for me. If there are any interesting questions I want to bounce off him, he’s always going to be there for me and the club.”
McKay also noted that Lawwell had worked incredibly hard over his time as the Celtic CEO and was now going to be getting some well earned rest and time to relax. It’s clear from everything McKay said yesterday and indeed meeting the fan media alongside the new manager Ange Postecoglou before the mainstream media got their chance was an indication of things being done differently now at Celtic.
