Celtic face Borussia Dortmund this evening in their second UEFA Champions League game. Having won the opening game 5-1 against Slovan Bratislava, Celtic travel to Germany to face the Champions League Finalists from last season.

Team News

Celtic are without Cameron Carter-Vickers for this evening’s game but the USA Internationalist is the only major absence for Brendan Rodgers’ side. CCV missed the wins over Falkirk and St Johnstone with Auston Trusty coming into the side. The ex-Arsenal defender will have to continue at the back in light of Carter-Vickers’ toe injury.

Kasper Schmeichel will start in goals. The Dane has not conceded in league duty but he will require to be at his best against the Bundesliga outfit.

In defence, Trusty will start in the central pairing alongside Liam Scales with Alistair Johnston and Greg Taylor in the full back berths.

The big decision for the manager comes in the middle of the park, deciding whether to play Paulo Bernardo or Reo Hatate. Bernardo impressed but you would fancy the Japanese midfielder to take the place beside Arne Engels and skipper Callum McGregor.

In attack, you would anticipate that a front three of Kyogo, Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kühn.

Predicted XI: Schmeichel; Taylor, Scales, Trusty, Johnston; McGregor, Hatate, Engels; Maeda, Kyogo, Kühn.
