ANOTHER day and another club are being linked with a move for Odsonne Edouard. Yesterday it was Leeds United but today its is Premier League mid-table side Crystal Palace who are the club interested in signing the Frenchman. The Scottish Sun are claiming that the London club have kept tabs on Edouard over the last season.
The report claims that the Premier League side are willing to pay £25m but Celtic do not want to sell – definitely not for a fee which is that low. Edouard has two years remaining and Celtic remain keen to sign him up on improved terms to make him one of the club’s top earners.
Leicester, Lyon and now Palace have been linked with Edouard – who is one of the club’s top assets – but the club need to keep him in order to win 10IAR.
The Frenchman was in incredible form last season, scoring 28 goals and notching 12 assists in 45 appearances in all competitions as Celtic steamed towards matching Jock Stein’s 1974 record. In the search for 10IAR, Celtic need to retain our best players as well as re-signing Fraser Forster.
A move to a mid table Premier League team would not make for a wise career move for Edouard as he would be swapping regular European football and the opportunity to win trophies for an annual battle to reach 40 points to avoid the drop.
