Ellie Dixon has posted a video on social media telling the story of her journey to Celtic Park to perform in front of 60,000 Celtic supporters at Saturday’s Glasgow Derby which Celtic won 3-2 with the winning goal being appropriately enough scored by Jota.
Celtic’s ‘Superstar from Portugal’ was of course the subject-matter for the English musician’s appearance on Radio 5 Live on the weekend of the League Cup Final where Celtic beat theRangers to retain the trophy. Ellie’s acoustic version of the Celtic support’s song ‘Jota on the Wing’ caught everyone’s attention – including Celtic’s and after her version of the song was added to by various artists, a rapper, a guitarist, a drummer and even a pianist – the club decided to invite Ellie to Celtic Park at the weekend given there would be no horribles in the away end to disrupt her performance.
Ellie was given a brilliant reception from the Celtic support for her two songs – Jota on the Wing and The Fields of Athenry and she also got to meet our Superstar from Portugal before the game. Her Fairytale afternoon was completed by Jota himself as he rounded some senior citizen to find the back of theRangers net from the tightest of angles.
Here’s how Ellie reflected on all of this…
