Celtic TV this afternoon released some highlights, courtesy of BBC Alba, from the weekend’s Beautiful Sunday win over theRangers at their training centre, the one that used to be called Murray Park. Talking of Beautiful Sunday if you listen to the Celtic match winner’s post-match chat with Celtic TV you’ll hear that iconic Celtic tune blasting out in the away dressing room. A truly beautiful sound! Listen to that below too…

Highlights first…

Now for Sarah Ewens with Beautiful Sunday playing in the background…

And while this Green and Whitewash success for our impressive Ghirls (three wins from three against theRangers) has given the entire Celtic support a lift and an exciting finale to the season with just three games remaining, the contrast among their support could not be more different.

Things are getting rather nasty as far as their fans are concerned after watching yet another Celtic win over their expensively assembled side, with numerous calls for their manager Malky Thomson to be sacked!

Shall we have a long overdue look at their tears? Why not! Dingwall himself posted these press cuttings last Friday ahead of the game.

An early miss by theRangers: “Arnot should be burying that, off the line, this is a carbon copy of the first 2 games v them, dominate and can’t score.”

“These s**m are hanging on again. Only one team playing football.”

“Chance after chance missed.”

“First 100% chance of the afternoon missed from 6 yards out and rolled it gently against defender on the line.”

Their keeper makes a great save but concedes a corner: “Outstanding save”…”Great save”…”Great save from Fife”…”What a save that was!”…”Great save from our keeper”…

Then Kelly Clark heads home from the corner: “All over them and they score. Typical.”…lots of swearing unsuitable for posting here follow follows…” How the hell are Rangers losing this game?”…”Pathetic against them again”…”Free header 2 yards out”…”This team really falter in big games”…”Ness sleeping there.
Let her player go and she scored”…

“Dominated the 2 previous games against this mob and lost both with late goals given away! When we play garbage teams we can afford these misses but definitely not good enough in the final 3rd.”

“Wasteful finishing in front of goal and poor defending again. Same story as previous two games against this mob.”

Fran Alonso was getting some stick, little of it repeatable: “That coach of their’s looks a wrong un.”

TheRangers side getting stick too: “Admittedly, aside from the odd clips, I’ve only ever watched a full game against Celtic. But my impressions are that we look utterly toothless and mentally very weak.”

Then they get a wind assisted equaliser: “Keepers ball all day”…”Haha. Whats the keeper dain”..”Get in there mon the ladies”…”Barkas playing for their women?”

The Champions League situation is discussed as the game progresses: Do (the)Rangers need to win to get 2nd place and CL?”…”A draw keeps them second”…

Half time, it’s 1-1: “What are BBC Alba all about. Half time is entirely a (Celtic) interview”…

“O’Henley is no friend of (the)Rangers and the co-commentator, Suzanne Lappin’s a Celtic supporter and ex-player from Garngad. Normally we get balanced co-commentary from Pauline Hamill, ex-Celtic player…BBC Alba’s football commentary staff are the cooncil Sky Sports but without the token bluenose.”

And they also turn on the Green Brigade, repeating an old lie: “I say get the ladies game better promoted and get more money invested. I know it’s not everyone’s cuppa and some positively against it, but the ladies deserve their chance as well. Have watched us a few times and decent talent on display and just want them to do well and win trophies and why not? Another opportunity for the ladies to live their dream as well as us macho males. Oh and not forgetting the sectarian abuse they took in 2019 when the GB turned up when we played THEM at EK, but that was OK, it wasn’t us doing it. They need our support.” (incidentally, that last bit about the Green Brigade was a lie).

The second half not going well for theRangers: “Totally lost our way this second half – they are just playing 10 yards higher up the park as they know we don’t have a threat in behind”…

“I still think we’re the better team yet again, better drilled and always ‘trying’ to do the right thing football wise. Just not coming off, fear the sting in the tail is coming”…”I know we have a lot of injuries but how have we not beaten this Celtic team? They are almost as bad as their mens version.”

“Awful second half. The ladies have ran out of ideas. Complete lack of leadership really at that level again in a big game.”

Another great save from their keeper, who concedes another corner!!!“Miracle save”…”This is when we start to panic”…Not getting much from this ref either. What a save though from Fife”…

And Sarah Ewens heads Celtic into the lead…”Our coach needs to go”…”Do not believe that”…”This is groundhog day”…”And there it is”…”Somebody chin that coach”…”Malky Thomson out!”…”Out of interest how much have we invested in the team?”…”Criminal defending once again”…”Listen to that weirdo commentator popping his cork there too”…” actually can’t watch this anymore, the quality is circa 13 year old boys. Genuinely”…”Women’s defence need to sort themselves out at corners”…

“That’s dreadful”…State of that (Celtic) manager”…”Can’t defend corners, shocking”…”Three games v them carbon copy every time, Ness needs punted she’s brutal”…”Same old story. Last 10 minutes and we give a goal away”…”Unreal man. They are jammy…..”…”the defending is absolutely brutal, its like having 4 Rob Kerinans and Cammy Bell at the back”…

“Same goal again, a shambles. Considering the investment questions need to be asked and changes need to be made”…”Well, that’s just ruined my Sunday”…”This is dreadful. Won’t be watching the woman’s team again”…”its a waste of money whatever we are spending on this Colin Nish we would be better spending the money on our youths”…

“It’s the only way they can score. Done nothing else (forgetting their keeper’s two wonder saves)”…”Here he comes with the reactionary subs again”…”This team needs new management.NOW!”…”This Malky Thomson character is useless”…”Shocking defence”…”Blowing 2nd now and Champions League qualification. Making subs now when behind, manager hasn’t learned in these games all season”…

“Am I right in saying we’ve invested significantly more than both Celtic and Glasgow City into the womens game? Shocking return if that is indeed the case”…”Sadly didn’t invest in a manager though. Just moved a youth coach across because they wanted him out the road”…

Photo: Colin Poultney PSI

“Ross Wilson will need to bin most of this. Coaching staff included. Not had a proper manager anyway. Club aren’t putting money in to finish 3rd I’m afraid”…”Malky Thomson clearly isn’t the man to take the ladies forward. He’s not went (sic) with the change up too when it was obvious he had to, same at centre back when a change was needed. Really poor to lose that goal. Only Reilly gets pass marks for me, totally based on her performance today, she’s the best player we’ve got”…

“They’ve reduced us to their level”…”Malky for Malky”…”The amount of money poured into the womens and believe its 7 figures. The last few games I’ve watched somebody is going be hunted. Not good enough”…

Photo: Colin Poultney PSI

“Twice I have watched them recently against Celtic and twice I would say tactically theRangers women are falling short. Seem better players in our team mind?…”New manager required”…”Thats 5 ‘big’ games this season and the record reads 1 win 4 defeats.”

“I think they probably should hire managers with coaching experience in the woman’s game. Instead of putting youth coaches they don’t want doing that anymore into the role”…”We’ve been awful today. Why do we freeze against Celtic?” (you know that didn’t actually call us Celtic)…”

Losing to that. Hard to believe. Two corners two goals and little else”…”Get Malky out, the players are better than the results are showing”…”Another embarrassing performance against them”…

“Poor. Management change and some big investments needed to sort that out”…”When we are winning they look like they could beat anyone but any sort of issue and they look clueless. That’s where your management team come in and honestly nothing comes from them! No Champions League he needs to go!”…

“Three times and we learn nothing. They are not good but we totally fall short when we play them. We have nothing up front but leave a striker on the bench. We make subs after 80-odd minutes when it’s clear something isn’t working well before that”…

“That was woeful, no idea whatsoever second half, standards have to improve, how the hell Ness and Cornet stayed on the park is beyond me. Manager has to be replaced”…”Two shots on goal whole game with the amount of possession we had”…

“Big decisions to be made about the set up. That was really poor. Not much return for the investment. And the recent announcements re the investment in the women’s game down south mean this will be a backwater and unable to attract/retain talent moving forward. Not against women’s football or investing in development but right now it’s looking like money down the toilet”…

Photo: Colin Poultney PSI

“Celtic are a very industrial team no great game plan but to suffocate the game and hope for a break. We are technically better but woeful in the final third. Technical ability does not win you games”…”Toothless in attack, weak in defence, incapable of stringing 2 or 3 passes together. They have been like this every time they are in a meaningful game. Dire stuff and verging on embarrassing”…

“For what I seen the wee Celtic centre midfielder looks a street footballer and dictated everything. Take her away and they were as bad as us. Although they did have a game plan”…”Bye Malky”…”Thomson out”…”The wee Celtic player in the middle of the park had us chasing shadows and yet she just looks a street footballer. No much skill just desire and fight”…

“Would never want to see someone lose his job but on what was on show, looks out of his depth”…”I only caught some of the second half, and we looked as clueless as last time. Some of the players are dreadful. And I don’t think they’re all second stringers, in for you injured players. Need to hunt the manager, and also a good number of the players as well. Investment not paying off at the moment”…

Photo: Colin Poultney PSI

“That’s 3 big games recently, that lot twice and Glasgow city and we’ve not won any of them”…”Well that was inevitable, we were awful, just like the last time”…”I’m afraid the league table and head to head results suggest otherwise”…”Management team need to go. Not anywhere near qualified for that role.”…

“Those 3 Celtic games will haunt us. We could, and should, have won all three. We lost all of them to late goals. We are top scorers in the League, we have conceded fewer goals than anybody else in the League – yet find ourselves third due mainly to those OF (sic) games. Beat City in our last game and there’s an outside chance we could hand the title to Celtic – a team who are, by a mile, the poorest of the top three. Incredible.”

“Completely unacceptable given what the club have spent in comparison to every other club in the league. If we don’t get top two and a CL place it will be scandalous given the spend. Anyone who’s watched a lot of the team this season will see we probably have better players in each position than any other team in the league however selection, tactics and substitutions are lacking – this has been particularly prevalent in games v Celtic. The blame for that lies squarely at the coaching staff’s door.”
