Enzo Maresca – The man who can take Celtic forward or maybe too much of a risk

The Celtic managerial bingo is a little bit quiet today, but rumours are intensifying that Manchester City number two Enzo Maresca is the hot favourite for the Celtic hot seat.

Yes I know that a day or two ago it was Brendan Rodgers and now it’s Maresca, it’s a merry-go-round, but to be fair, the two of them have been backed heavily from the minute it was announced that Ange Postecoglou was leaving the club.

Rumours are now circulating that Enzo will speak to the club after the champions league final this evening.

Maresca of course was a name mentioned before Ange Postecoglou got the Celtic job. At the time the Italian was the under 23 coach at Man City, he’s since added to his CV by being his own man at Parma, which didn’t go too to plan, to be honest it was a bit of a disaster.

Since his nightmare spell at Parma he’s been Pep Guardiola’s trusted right hand man as Manchester City steamroll their way to glory.

Despite the disaster at Parma, Enzo has no doubt picked up priceless knowledge working with the brilliant Guardiola. That doesn’t mean he would be a success at Celtic, but the guy is obviously got something about him, a guy of Pep’s class wouldn’t have him around if he was wasn’t talented.

So is Enzo the right man for the job? His lack of experience is probably the only question mark hanging over him. He had a bad time at Parma but he’s more and likely learned from his experience and made him a better coach.

He’s a young forward thinking coach and his team would play the game the right way, he most likely has great contacts in the game. Will he be the man who can take Celtic forward and carry on the development achieved by Ange Postecoglou to the football operation at the club? Is he worth the risk? We shall find out in the next few days.

  1. EMZO IS NOT AT Any level he is man City assistant and should stay ther if celtic appoint him as manager we will be in trouble this last and only managerial roll so home being sacked after 14 games so if celtic appoint him then they don’t have any clue this is this city group should stay out of celtics business….. THE BORDE NEED TO REMEMBER WE ARE CELTIC 🍀HAIL HAIL 🍀 WE WILL STILL NEVER STOP 🍀 WE ARE CHAMPIONS 🏆🏆🏆

  2. Im not so sure , is Celtic a team that need to take on a rooky manager to practice his trade and to see if he is good enough at our expense. Even with an experienced manager there are no guarantees but at least there is foundation from his past record. YOU DONT BUILD A HOUSE ON SAND AND THEN HOPE ! We are Celtic not a club who need to take on rooky manager to see if he is good or no (like across the city) lets go for someone who has a good track record we can certainly afford it HH

  3. A guy of peps class wouldn’t want to let him go if he was that good,he made a total shambles of Parma and was classed as a complete failure by them, definitely not for me.
