Ex-Celt Aiden McGeady seals return to Scottish football

Former Celtic winger Aiden McGeady has sealed a return to Scottish football as the ex-Ireland Internationalist has signed a one-year deal with Hibernian. The move means that the 36-year-old will reunite with Lee Johnson, whom he worked under at Sunderland.

McGeady, a product of Celtic’s youth system, left Paradise in 2010 for Spartak Moscow. The player made over 180 appearances for Celtic and has enjoyed spells with Everton, Preston North End and Sunderland. Now, after twelve years, he makes his return to the league that propelled him to become a £10m player.

Despite McGeady’s best days being behind him, he is an astute signing by Hibs. He adds quality and experience to their squad. If anyone has watched the Netflix series on Sunderland, he was always seen to be moaning about standards and lack of a winning mentality in their dressing room. His grounding at Celtic will certainly have instilled in him the mentality to win week in, week out and Hibs will benefit from him being a part of their dressing room.
