FORMER CELTIC youngster Liam Burt appears set to move to the English Championship with Yorkshire side Barnsley being reported as favourites to sign the player that has been capped with Scotland’s U21s.
As reported by the Daily Record, Burt is close to agreeing a deal that will take him to the English second tier after his release by the Scottish Champions. The decision appeared to be mutual with both parties agreeing that Burt required first team football elsewhere.
The 21-year-old appeared to be staying at Celtic when he posted to his Instagram account a photo of Lennoxtown. However, Burt left the club on June 30 after his deal expired. Burt has struggled to make an impact on the first team with Rogic, Christie and Ntcham all vying for the attacking midfielder role within Neil Lennon’s starting XI.
Burt signed from Rangers last year after making 3 first team appearances but has failed to make his first team debut for Celtic. Burt scored a hat-trick and managed to get two assists in a win over Stenhousemuir but seemingly it has not been enough to get him involved in the first team.
