Tony Watt is set to return to Scotland on a free transfer this month after being told he can leave CSKA Sofia. The 26-year-old shot to prominence eight years ago when he scored the winning goal in Celtic’s historic 2-1 win over Barcelona.

The Scottish Sun are reporting that Watt is a target for St Mirren and Championship side Dunfermline. Whilst it is fair to say that Watt hasn’t quite followed the path that the goal in the Champions League might have set him down, Watt has experienced a lot in his career taking him to Bulgaria via England, Wales, Belgium and even Airdrie.

A move to Jim Goodwin’s side or Dunfermline would make sense with both teams looking to pull themselves up the table in their respective leagues. Albeit a move to Paisley might be more likely after Jonathan Afolabi joined the Pars until the end of the season on loan.

Watt, who is a goalscorer, would be a coup for a number of Scottish clubs as the one-cap Internationalist looks to settle and get back to playing football.
