Exactly 26 years ago, Celtic signed the King of Kings

It was 26 years ago today when today a young dreadlocked Swede by the name of Henrik Larsson arrived in Glasgow to sign for Celtic, and the rest as they say is history.

Wim Jansen took advantage of his inside knowledge as Feyenoord technical coach to snap up Henrik for a bargain of just £650,000.

As Henrik was paraded to the media know one could know how successful he would become. Not just one of the best players to grace the Hoops, but one of the best to grace the Scottish game. He would go onto score 242 goals in 313 appearances for Celtic.

To get a player of his talents for such a low sum is one of the best bits of business not just in our history but football history. He was class personified, a player not just respected on these shores, but world wide. It wasn’t exaggerating to say he was world class, he proved it on several occasions.
