Extreme optimism from across the city, just the way I like it

Extreme optimism from the Rangers supporters. Just the way I like it…

theRangers supporters are feeling pretty confident heading into the new season. They have every right to be, having seen their side splash out the cash on world class talent. Not to mention cutting ties with serial under-achievers Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos .

Why am I writing about the Rangers? Well it concerns Celtic so to speak as their much gained new found confidence is great news for us. Why is that? Well the focus is all on them, from the media to their supporters, everyone is building them up as potential treble winners next term. As annoying and amusing as that might be, it should be music to our ears.

We have of course lost a quality coach in Ange Postecoglou but at the same time we’ve recruited a top quality alternative in Brendan Rodgers, a man who is a proven winner and knows our game inside out.

We’ve also lost a terrific player in Jota but the money we received kinda softens the blow. Don’t forget we’ve also added cracking young players in Odin Thiago Holm and Marco Tilio and those two won’t be the last arrivals either.

With the Jota cash burning a hole in his pocket Brendan is now more than well equipped to go and add a few quality additions to a squad already littered with quality, and proven winners I may add.

theRangers as we know aren’t that good at handling the pressure. They fold like a deck chair when the going gets tough, and next term will see them start as favourites in the eyes of their supporters and the Scottish media. They are just one bad result from imploding, it’s what they do best. It’s as predictable as the Scottish summer weather.

They never learn and probably never will. It’s best to start shooting your mouth off when the real action starts. As for Celtic we will just sit back plan ahead and quietly prepare for the new season.
