Fabrizio Romano confirms Man City talks with Celtic for Kyogo

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester City have held initial talks with Celtic over a deal for Kyogo Furuhashi. The 29-year-old missed Celtic’s 3-1 win over Hibs following a knock to his shoulder but now, it appears that the hitman is wanted by Pep Guardiola’s City.

Speaking on Twitter/X, Romano stated that Kyogo is one of the options for the English Champions as they look to provide backup for Erling Haaland.

It is worth mentioning that Romano has cited Kyogo as a winger in his update, which is certainly not the case. It may be laziness in reporting what other have already said but it is unlikely that Kyogo would be considered as a wide option for City.

Rumbles earlier on, which were first reported by The Celtic Star, were then followed by The Athletic revealing that Kyogo was on a two-man shortlist for City. It appears that there is genuine interest from City, which would be quite challenging to Celtic at this stage in the window.

Kyogo made the surprise decision to switch agents to CAA Base earlier this summer. The update was welcomed with apprehension from the Celtic support, who remember the agency’s influence in aiding Ange Postecoglou’s move to Spurs.

  1. Hoping against hope that Matt stays at Paradise. Another year, and if he does the same job that he is doing now, then he will be worth amazing money. Come on Matt, stay for the big Bhoys league.. Please. .

  2. Can’t help thinking that this is a load of bull – ok O’Reilly may go but the usual crap about clubs looking for CCV, Hatate & now Kyogo. We know Lawwell is greedy, manipulative, controlling & undermined Rodgers last time around but surely even he would not be suicidal enough to destroy a team that Rodgers has said publicly on a number of occasions needs strengthening & also that his aim is to do better in Europe. How on earth would either of those aims be achieved if Lawwell sells his top players, particularly if ready-made replacements aren’t brought in … which is virtually impossible at this late stage in the transfer window & how do you think the fans would react?

  3. I don’t think Kyogo would work at City.
They have so much possession that teams drop so deep and they are very deliberate and slow with their passing. They have little or no opportunities to break quickly which is where Kyogo is lethal.
