Fabrizio Romano has issued a gushing summary on the current fortunes of former Celtic defender Jeremie Frimpong. The Dutch defender signed a new long-term deal with Bayer Leverkusen earlier this week, which the Italian journalist was quick to announce as an Exclusive.
In a post on Twitter/X, Romano confirmed that Frimpong was included as part of Ronald Koeman’s squad for the Dutch National Team.

Leverkusen’s hierarchy, along with Xabi Alonso, rate the player highly and see him as an asset for a multi-million sale in due course. Celtic hold a sell-on clause, that could be potentially lucrative for the Paradise side in due course.
Romano has been known to promote players that he believes will be subject to transfer interest in the future. The social media suggestion appears to be that some players and agents are contacting Romano in an attempt to drum up interest in their player. Frimpong is potentially one of the next generation of big players to break through and command an eye-watering fee.
The young fullback joined Leverkusen in January 2021 after an impressive spell with Celtic; he was only there for 18 months. Frimpong, who turned 22 in December, will be attracting interest in the summer as he looks for another move in his short career.
The move has paid dividends for both Celtic and the player as he has been able to push on after struggling to see a path under Neil Lennon in the 2020/21 season. Now, he is attracting interest with powerful running down the right-hand side.
