Our friends at 67HailHail sat down with David Webb, who has been linked with a potential role in the Dominic McKay era ahead of next season. Webb, the former Bournemouth and Tottenham footballing executive, was mentioned in a report last week as being a candidate for the role that McKay is believed to create at the club. The Daily Mail claim that Webb, who worked with Eddie Howe with Bournemouth until 2015 when he joined Spurs in a talent acquisition role. Webb is currently unattached having left his role as Head of Football Operations with Championship side Huddersfield Town in February last year. The article cites Webb as having an in-depth knowledge of the transfer market and cites a number of players that Webb helped sign – Wilson, Son to mention a few.
The 25 minute interview allowed Webb to discuss his process, his experience with managers, scouting policy and beliefs.
Webb has a plethora of experience including consultancy roles with Hoffenheim, Real Betis and Crystal Palace. It is a fascinating watch and Webb comes across very well, detailing his experiences working with Maurico Pochettino at Southampton and then Tottenham before moving to Howe’s Bournemouth.
There is a growing belief that this modern approach is exactly what Celtic need to do, listening to Webb explains it suggest that he may be a very good candidate.
