Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano has given an update on Celtic’s transfer ambitions for the remaining few days of the transfer window.
It’s been a busy summer at Celtic with a lot of change. Arguably the most significant change in Paradise this summer has been the exit of Ange Postecoglou and the loss of his signature ‘Ange-Ball’. That being said, the reintroduction of Brendan Rodgers into the Celtic fold certainly hasn’t been a step down by any account, though it has changed things in Paradise.
The different coaching types from the two are evident as the players have already commented on this, with the most recent being Maeda who revealed he is struggling to adapt to the change. In any case, Brendan Rodgers has set out this summer to bring in some new recruits for the upcoming season. Injury has played an unfortunate part in Brendan’s return which has caused an increase in speculation for potential signings who could save the squad, with Kieran Tierney’s name being rumoured for the past month or so.
Although Tierney is now off of the table, Fabrizio Romano has told Give Me Sport that he believes that Celtic will make a few more signings before the end of the transfer window.
“For sure, there is going to be something. They’re trying to keep things quiet at the club. I think that this is positive news. At the same time, I expect them to do something by the end of the transfer window, and they will be 100% busy with that,” Fabrizio Romano stated.
And it looks like he could be correct with Celtic looking at up to five signings this week and also five or even six players leaving the club as Brendan Rodgers stamps his authority in the dressing room. Luis Palma is set to be the first new arrival in a deal worth in excess of £3.5million for the Aris winger.
The Celtic manager is also looking to add a left back, a central defender, a goalkeeper and a striker to add to the winger on his way.
Expect fringe players like Soro, McCarthy, Ajeti and maybe Siegrist to leave the club this week and surely yesterday’s social media outburst will see the unhappy Sead Hakšabanović leave the club. Rocco Vata is also likely to depart amid his ongoing concerns regarding access to first team football with a move to Italy likely to go through this week.
Celtic will knock back ongoing interest in Reo Hatate, Liel Abada and Matt O’Riley with new contracts on offer to the Japanese and Israeli internationals although curiously not yet to O’Riley – who arrived at the club at the same time as Hatate. Maybe that will get sorted too.
