Celtic have confirmed that the SWPL1 match against Motherwell which was postponed just before Christmas due to weather conditions has been re-arranged for Wednesday 18 January at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie.
Rather frustratingly this re-arranged fixture clashes with the Scottish Premiership match at Celtic Park against St Mirren with both games kicking off at 7.45pm.
In other news regarding Fran Alonso’s side, after the 9-0 win against Falkirk in the Scottish Cup, holders Celtic FC Women have been drawn against Boroughmuir Thistle in the 5th Round, with the away tie being played on Sunday 12 February, this game will be played at the Meadowbank Stadium.
By that time we should have a few new recruits as Fran Alonso looks like adding at least two new signings after the sale of top scorer Clarissa Larisey to Swedish side BK Häcken, a transfer story that was broken to the Celtic support by The Celtic Star on Sunday evening ahead of the deal being confirmed yesterday.
Upcoming January fixtures for the women’s side are this Sunday (15 January) away to Glasgow Women – the venue is New Tinto Park in Glasgow – the home of both Benburb and Rossvale – and this match has a 12 noon kick-off time.
A week later on Sunday 22 January it’s a home game against Partick Thistle in the SWPL1 with a 4.10pm kid-off, which usually means that it will be shown live on BBC Alba. Then on Sunday 29 January Fran Alonso’s side are away to Hearts with the game played at their Oriam Performance Centre, with a 2pm kick-off time.
There’s a chance to get some real momentum ahead of the bigger challenges to come against theRangers and Glasgow City and Celtic’s chances could well depend on how the transfer window goes over the next few weeks.
