Former Ajax and Aston Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi has offered to play for Celtic for free. The Dutch Internationalist responded to the Green Brigade’s latest show of support for Palestine by offering his services.

The 28-year-old is embroiled in a bitter dispute with Mainz, who terminated his contract over support for the Palestinian people. Now, he has offered his services to the Scottish Champions.

The club’s recruitment in recent seasons has been poor. This has contributed to the discontent around the club after Ange brought success in his two seasons at the club. Although, the club have been struggling to bring in quality and results have suffered.

It seems very unlikely that the club would consider El Ghazi as an option. There are a number of difficulties owing to his dispute with Mainz, too.

In 119 appearances for Villa, El Ghazi scored 26 goals and assisted on 16 occasions whilst for Ajax, the winger scored 23 goals and 16 assists. Celtic have been lacking in quality in the attacking areas and a player of El Ghazi’s experience would probably have improved the club.
