Former Celtic star Moi Elyounoussi was finally given a chance to show what he could do in a Southampton shirt last night and ended up scoring a hat-trick against League Two outfit Newport County in an 8-0 Carabao Cup victory.

After two seasons out on loan at Celtic, the Norwegian international returned to the South Coast side where manager Ralph Hasenhuttl offered a chance for a new start, after bing impressed by his performances in the Hoops.

Moi scored 24 goals in 67 games for Celtic, adding 14 assists to that record yet opinion on whether Celtic should look at moving for a player who cost Southampton £16million from Swiss side FC Basel was mixed.

Some of the comments on this post from last night tell a story, perhaps not a fair reflection of the impact that Elyounoussi actually made for Celtic, or do the above stats lie?

“Not really because he might of been slightly available before that tbh but I am happy for him, great player.”

“He was too inconsistent but would love to have seen how he would have fitted into Angeball!”
