Former Celtic defender Mark Wilson has slapped down claims from a Rangers supporter that Brendan Rodgers wasn’t a great manager.
Speaking to Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Jimmy in Cambuslang phoned in to attempt to ridicule the Celtic manager but was rebutted in an emphatic defence from Wilson.
Wilson cited the two fifth placed finishes enjoyed by Leicester during Rodgers’ tenure as well as their first ever FA Cup success not to mention the seven domestic trophies (in a row) that the ex-Liverpool manager had won at a Celtic.
Wilson’s defence of Rodgers was certainly robust but more staggeringly, Rangers fans do not appear to grasp the reality that Celtic have replaced an elite level manager with an elite level manager. Ange Postecoglou’s departure prompted celebrations from Ibrox but the reality that Rodgers has returned citing unfinished business should have sent alarm bells ringing. It will be their own undoing if they fail to take Celtic seriously but all that the manager can do is seek to continue the domination of the Scottish game.
