Former Celtic full back Jeremie Frimpong has shown impressive form since moving from the Hoops to Bayer Leverkusen a few years ago.

The defender has attracted a lot of interest from top European clubs and now Real Madrid and Barcelona are reportedly among the suitors interested in signing him.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo have reported that both Spanish giants are interested in the 22-year-old, who still has two years to run on his contract in the Bundesliga.

Leverkusen are thought to be unwilling to sell the player for less than £30m and may look for a figure closer to £50m. And that’s great news for Celtic, who have a sell on clause believed to be in the region of 10%.

Frimpong cost Celtic just an approximate £250k development fee when he arrived from the ranks of Manchester City. He made 51 appearances for the club, helping them to a domestic treble before moving on for £11.5m. With this impending sell on fee expected, Frimpong has more than repaid Celtic for the opportunity they gave him.
