It might not surprise a lot of people to hear that a move to Iran wasn’t exactly the best thing for Anthony Stokes, but a possible move to East Kilbride would be fairly astonishing.
He’s 32 so he could still have a couple of years left at the top level, but a report from The Sun has indicated that he could join the high profile signings at East Kilbride.
It’s fair to say that Stokes would be a cut above Paul Paton and Chris Erskine, and he would give them a big boost in their quest to beat Barry Ferguson’s Kelty Hearts to the title next season.

It’s hard to decide how likely this is, because the reason for the link came after East Kilbride manager Stevie Aitken admitted he hasn’t spoken to him yet but he would be very interested in bringing him in.
There is nothing to stop a manager saying that they would like to sign someone, but it might not be ridiculously far fetched.
It doesn’t sound like Stokes has a lot of offers coming his way just now, there’s more money than you might expect in the Lowland League and it could also be an exciting project for him.
He’s good enough to play for a Premiership team or in the English Lower leagues, but it should be more exciting to play a key role in taking a team through the divisions rather than picking up a pay cheque for mid table mediocrity.
You have to see this as a considerable comedown for Stokes to even be linked with such a move, but it would be fascinating to see.
