Former Celtic fullback Paul Caddis has announced his retirement from playing today. The 34-year-old came through the ranks at Celtic before making his name in England as a strong fullback, who could play on both sides as well as in the midfield.
In a post on Twitter, Caddis confirmed that he would be swapping the pitch for the dugout as he begins to make inroads into his coaching. Caddis has a coaching company set up already but he will be involved in a role shortly with Scott Brown’s Fleetwood Town. Caddis is taking up an Academy role there.
In his post, the player thanked the clubs which he played for across the course of a strong career in England.

Caddis made 24 appearances for Celtic as he ‘lived the dream’ playing for the club he supported. Ultimately, he didn’t kick on under Gordon Strachan and he left in 2010 after a loan at Dundee United. Caddis left the club for first-team opportunities with Si Ferry to join Swindon Town. He played the majority of his football with them as well as Birmingham City.
I often felt that we did not give this chap much of a chance. He had quality.
