MIKEL LUSTIG has sealed a homecoming switch to his native Sweden with a move to AIK Stockholm. The 33-year-old was training with the reserves with Belgian side Gent following a poor first season but instead of loitering in the club’s second team, he has sealed a move back to Sweden.
Välkommen till AIK Fotboll, Mikael Lustig!

Lustig was a stalwart at Celtic. The Swede was signed on a free transfer from Rosenborg in the January transfer window of 2012 and went on to spend seven and a half years with the Scottish Champions. The Sweden International was revered by the Celtic support for his spirited displays on the park as well as getting what the club was all about off the park.
Celtic have gone from strength to strength in the full back region after Lustig’s departure even if the Swede leaving was a tough one to take. Hatem Abd Elhamed and Jeremie Frimpong have provided a pace in the right back area that Lustig was lacking at the end of his Celtic career.
We wish him all the best at his new club.
