Former Celtic hero receives sword as parting gift from supporters

Former Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc has been gifted a commemorative saber from Legia Warsaw’s ultras as the legendary goalkeeper bids farewell to his boyhood club. The 42-year-old has had spells in Poland, Italy and England but he enjoyed his most fruitful spell with Celtic.

As Boruc looks to depart Warsaw, their Ultras gave him a bizarre send-off with a parting gift.

Boruc, who signed from Legia Warsaw in 2005, was nicknamed the ‘Holy Goalie’ by supporters due to the fact he blessed himself before he entered the goal, which obviously upset Rangers supporters for some reason.

Here are a few of the ‘keeper’s best moments in a Celtic shirt which include that brilliant penalty save against Louis Saha in the Champions League and countless brave saves.

Boruc was a fan favourite during his five year stay at Paradise due to his brilliant saves and ability to noise up the other lot. The Polish goalkeeper picked up six trophies in that time, becoming a key feature of the team under Gordon Strachan.

What a career Boruc had and if this is him coming to the end of his career, what a fitting ending for the goalie.

  1. A wonderful tribute to one of our best. Drop him a line and see if he can teach that level of pure ability, reflex and how to milk it. He will always be loved in paradise.
