Former Celtic midfielder Paul Hartley has offered Efe Ambrose a trial with Cinch League One side Cove Rangers. The Nigerian central defender started in their pre-season friendly match against Dundee as he looks to earn a deal that will see him continuing in the game.

Ambrose spent five years at Celtic, working under Neil Lennon, Ronny Deila and Brendan Rodgers. The versatile central defender will be able to impart his vast knowledge of the game to youngsters while looking to seal a Premiership return for the Greenock side.

At 34, Ambrose has a lot of playing left in him but he has already begun a gradual transition into life after football by coaching and helping young players come through at Livi. Ambrose left Celtic with 4 Premierships and 1 of each the League Cup and Scottish Cup.
