Former Celtic starlet Timothy Weah has scored for USA in their World Cup opener against Wales. The 22-year-old latched onto a Christian Pulisic pass and smashed the ball under an advancing Wayne Hennessey.
The Celtic Star broke the news that Weah was joining Celtic back in 2019 from PSG and the son of George Weah sparkled initially. Although with Brendan Rodgers leaving for Leicester City, Neil Lennon decided to cut Weah’s game time and eventually cut his loan short as the player decided to pick his country over the Scottish Cup Final. In 17 appearances, he scored 4 goals.
The player is now back in France playing with Lille and has made his mark at the World Cup on Matchday One. There was a surprise omission from the starting XI as Celtic’s Cameron Carter-Vickers was on the bench. The Celtic defender has played in the Champions League this season as well as impressing at domestic level but found himself on the bench behind Nashville’s Walker Zimmerman and Fulham’s Tim Ream.
