Charly Musonda looks set to make a return to football after returning to training following a knee injury. The youngster arrived at Celtic in 2018 but failed to live up the hype which lead to his deal being cut short in Glasgow. Musonda based much of his performance and branding on PSG’s Neymar saw himself as becoming Europe’s next big thing but a potential career-ending injury in the Netherlands threatened to cut short the talented career of the young Belgian.
The 24-year-old has been preparing to return to training with Chelsea’s U23s according to Goal. The injuries suffered to Musonda’s knee lead to doctors giving him just a twenty percent chance to return to competitive action. Musonda still has eighteen months left on his deal with Frank Lampard’s side so will be hoping to prove himself to the manager that has proven a willingness to play youth players.
Brendan Rodgers clearly didn’t fancy him and apart from a cameo versus Hearts and an assist versus Zenit, he failed to really showcase why he should be a regular in the first team. Despite arriving and playing to the fans by taking the ’67’ number, Musonda was a transfer that evoked much excitement but in reality left most fans very underwhelmed.
Hopefully he can get his career back on track after returning from this injury and showcase his talents to the world.
