Former Celtic striker back in training with Premiership club, without a club

Former Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths is back training with Livingston. Griffiths, 31, had been training with Livi but he instead swapped Scottish football for Western Australia. The short-term move to WA State League Division 1 side Mandurah City was seen as being a shop window for the A-League but now the striker is back with David Martindale’s side.

Martindale has previously said that he does not have space to re-sign Griffiths for Livi but with his side struggling in front of goal, having scored just seven times this season, they may be tempted to sign the prolific striker.

Martindale addressed the appearance of Griffiths in his media conference saying that the striker’s history is nothing compared to his.

Celtic had released the former Scotland Internationalist in January before sealing a deal until the end of the season with The Bairns. Unfortunately, he could not find the form to be rewarded with a contract. This summer has proved to be tough for Griffiths, he has put feelers out that he is in good shape; however, no one appears to be willing to take the gamble.

Griffiths scored 123 goals for Celtic in 261 appearances but off-field issues plagued the striker’s time in Glasgow. His winners medals cannot be taken away but the striker is still of a good age, meaning he can get his career back on track.
