Jeremie Frimpong has addressed the transfer speculation around him after Serie A giants AS Roma were reportedly considering a swoop for the 20-year-old Dutch youngster. A product of Manchester City’s Academy, Celtic signed Frimpong last summer and he burst onto the scene with a MOTM performance over Partick Thistle in the League Cup. With the injuries to Hatem Abd Elhamed and his impressive cameos, Frimpong became a mainstay in the Celtic team.

Frimpong’s rise to prominence will not have gone unnoticed with various teams seeing his development from a fringe player to a first team starter since arriving from City. The Scottish Sun reported last month that the Italian side were considering a swoop for Frimpong and that Celtic valued him at £13.5m.

However, Frimpong told the Media Conference ahead of the game versus Dundee United today that he was only focused on Celtic, dismissing any suggestion that he was wanting to leave the club in January.

“I am just focussed on Celtic right now. I am at Celtic so I am focussed on that.”

The Scottish Champions still have the opportunity to win 10IAR within their grasp and strong performances in the next two games would put down a marker and tell people that Celtic are still in the title race. Rangers currently have a 16 point lead but have played three games more. Gerrard’s side travel to Paisley on Wednesday whilst Celtic face United at home then Saturday’s game at Ibrox.
