After Celtic overcame Kilmarnock 2-0 comfortably on Saturday afternoon in front of the Celtic supporters at Parkhead, icon and club legend Chris Sutton revealed his delight at the performance and also reserved a special mention for want-away striker, Giorgos Giakoumakis.

With Ange Postecoglou’s cohorts stretching their lead at the top of the cinch Premiership league table to twelve points before theRangers had beaten Dundee United at Tannadice on Sunday – thanks to some dubious officiating yet again – Giakoumakis was given the last 20 minutes or so and tried everything to get on the scoresheet.

It wasn’t enough as the bar and Killie goalkeeper proved tough nuts to crack on the day for the big Greek centre-forward as he finished the game visibly frustrated once again. Not that he could be faulted for lack of trying though; he was putting himself about and trying desperately to make something happen and get Celtic a third goal against the Ayrshire outfit.

Sutton acknowledged the big man’s contribution when he come on, as he took to social media platform Twitter to express his delight at the result and his hopes that Giorgos will stay put for the time being. Posting online, the former Bhoys target man said:

“Celtic played some lovely football second half today but were wasteful in front of goal. Could’ve been 6! Got to say virtually every time Giakoumakis comes off the bench or plays he always looks like scoring or creating havoc. I hope he stays and sees this season out.”
