Glasgow Derby Ticket Row – They only have themselves to blame

The Bears only have themselves to blame for their Glasgow Derby lockout…

It was confirmed yesterday that there will be no away support attending the Glasgow Derby a week on Saturday. We of course already knew that, but our rivals from Ibrox had other ideas and were expecting to be offered some sort of allocation and squealing to an SPFL sub-committee.

As to why they were expecting to be given an allocation is something of a  mystery considering the way it’s been with the two clubs when it comes to handing out briefs when it comes to Derby Day. There needs to be reciprocity and if one club reduces an allocation from 7000 to 700 then the other is going to follow. And if one club can’t accept away tickets because the host club accepts that their away section is unsafe then the only reasonable action to take is refuse tickets for our away fixture and then deny the other lot ticket to our place until they have can guarantee that their away section at Ibrox is safe enough to admit Celtic fans in a Glasgow Derby.

So this is a situation that is all their own fault and anyone suggesting any different is talking nonsense.

Everyone knows it’s the Ibrox club’s own doing. It was their ill advised move to slash the Celtic allocation by ten fold a few years ago that started all this carry on, as Eddie Murray has already pointed out in his must read article on The Celtic Star this morning.

They listened to the pleas of their supporters after they became fed up watching the Celtic supporters celebrating one time too many at Ibrox. In turn they slashed our allocation and we had no option but to return the favour and it’s been that way ever since.

It’s either been a measly 800 tickets or a total lockout. It’s not ideal, but it’s the reality, and it was all started by one club, and it wasn’t Celtic. The Bears are angry that they can’t attend travel to Celtic park on the 30th, but they have no one else to blame but themselves.

Here is a (the)Rangers Podcast on Daily Record where this is discussed and explained why theRangers fans wanted the allocation reduced….”Gary Ralston. Daily Record Rangers Podcast. August 2017. Vocalising the Rangers fans crying to cut allocation after being scudded,” Gastro Celtic…
