Goalkeeper target makes hilarious Scottish cuisine admission; strongest sign yet that he wants Celtic move

Many believed the rumours of Mat Ryan potentially joining Celtic as solely being formed due to the obvious Australian link between hisself and new Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou. The transfer window merry-go-round has well and truly begun, with rumours being banded about daily, with a large majority of them having no substance.

Linked somewhat heavily to Celtic and Spanish side Real Sociedad over the last month, the Ryan link did make sense, given that Celtic are in the market for a new goalkeeper following the atrocious form of Vasilias Barkas last season. Yet, as lazy as some of these rumours have been this summer, this may just have legs; after an admission by Mat in hilarious circumstances.

It’s interesting, that move may come about.

Talking to Australian site FOX Sports about his potential move to sunny Spain or showery Scotland, a question was posed to Ryan about whether he preferred ‘Paella or Haggis’; each nations’ stereotypical national meal – to which Ryan firmly replied ‘Haggis, every day of the week’.

“Nah, at the minute I’m on the fence. I’m not sure what I fancy, what my tastebuds are craving just now. I’ll have to wait and see. I mean, it’s obviously always flattering to have interest and all that. There’s been a lot of speculation about it, I guess, people putting two and two together. Realising that, I guess I’m probably at the stage of my career now where a move is probably going to be happening, given the circumstances at Brighton.”

“And obviously, given the relationship between Ange and I in the past in the national team, I think there’s a lot of people putting two and two together. It’s interesting, that move may come about. I’m not really sure what’s going on, just waiting and seeing, and trying to give the diplomatic answer.

Personally, I’m a paella man – yet, if Ryan prefers the sheep guts, neeps and tatties that Glasgow’s finest restaurants have to offer, I’m all for it if it means he chooses a move to Celtic.
