Leigh Griffiths and Liam Burt ran the show as Celtic’s Reserve team tore apart Stenhousemuir at Lennoxtown. The standout performances of the pair are a major positive to come out of the training ground match this evening and Neil Lennon will be delighted.

Griffiths, 29, scored twice in the friendly match whilst Burt, who was involved in the buildup to Griffiths’ second goal, scored a hat-trick. Griffiths hasn’t been involved for Celtic since a cameo versus Hearts in August; however a number of injuries have curtailed his involvement this season.

Burt, who arrived from Rangers in the summer after letting his contract run down, was in top form grabbing a hat-trick before the game was an hour in. His impressive form since arriving may give Neil Lennon something else to think about, integrating the midfielder into the squad should he need to rotate the workload of the Celtic midfield.

Griffiths’ return could be an incredible boost for Celtic, who need to protect Odsonne Edouard ahead of vital games before the Winter break. With just one fit striker, the club cannot rotate giving some much needed rest to the Frenchman.
