Happy Administration Day

Happy Administration Day…

Happy Valentine’s Day to you all, a day when folk declare their love to those dearest to them. It also happens to be the 12th anniversary of when Rangers football club RIP, announced they were going into administration.

Yes, how time flies. It seems just like yesterday when TV crews from across the country descended on Ibrox to hear Craigy Whyte tell the world that Rangers Football Club were officially filing for administration due to severe financial difficulties.

Everyone will remember where they were when they heard the news, a kind of JFK moment, but rather than be surprised, the majority of us knew this day was coming. The Celtic support even warned them about it, but true to form they buried their heads in the sand until it was too late.

For me I was getting dental treatment at the time when it was announced on the radio, despite my pain, I felt rejoiced. God I didn’t even need any pain relief to numb my temporary agony! Their pain, I knew, was much worse and would be longer lasting!

Years of overspending and cheating had finally been caught up with the dodgy old Ibrox club, karma had bitten and it was a sore one for the supporters of the Ibrox club. Pain that would be everlasting and it was glorious for the rest of Scottish football. Yes lurkers, we all know you know.

The supporters tried their best to rally against the pending threat of liquidation, as they knew it would mean curtains for the club, not the company as they now proclaim, they knew fine well that the reaper was slowly approaching the door. Remember their show liquidation the red card day, protesting against the inevitable that would mean the end of their 140 years of history? That was all conveniently forgotten, yet they all held up their red cards did they not?

Ultimately the inevitable happened and they went down the tubes a few short months later. They were devastated at seeing 140 years of history go down the pan, while we tucked into our delicious and very satisfying jelly and ice cream.

It was glorious and it all started to unravel on this day twelve years ago. Happy Administration day to one and all, especially all you Zombies lurking away.

  1. Not according to the SMSM whose print publications all had giant memorandum pages on the demise of the Rangers at the time 12 years ago . It’s almost as if there was a dreamlike situation where they all mourned the passing of the Rangers and now today it’s like ….oh no , we were only kidding . Har ,har . Get off the subject of liquidation….let’s talk about something else . Only in wee Scawlin !
