Hard fought or spared blushes, it just depends on whether it’s the Rangers or Celtic

Hard fought or spared blushes, it just depends…

theRangers were almost on the end of a cup shock today as they stumbled to a 2-1 win over Morton at Ibrox in the League Cup. Yes stumbled, narrowly beating a lower league side at home by the odd goal isn’t hard fought as Clyde Superscoreboard spun it.

Yes maybe they rested a few regulars but they still had a multi million pound team on the park. Players on a weekly salary that Morton players earn annually. There is no excuse. Just as there wasn’t an excuse when he just brushed past Dunfermline in the same competition at Celtic park back in 2019.

The difference is we can admit it, we were rightly slaughtered by our supporters and the media back then. This result today was praised by the BBC in their headlines. It proclaimed ‘Rangers progress to the next round!’ The same outlet described our slender win against the Pars as ‘Forrest’s strike saves Celtic’s blushes’

Yes its predictable but sad. The Clyde 1 take on it made me smile though. Hard fought? If that was Celtic, the GBX would be cancelled last night as wee Shug would stay on air to slander Celtic. It’s so true. We can only laugh.

Just an Ordinary Bhoy

I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.
