“Has the moral high ground to himself”: Celtic chief praised for his actions in recent weeks

Admittedly Hearts have had a really good go at trying to prove themselves as the laughing stock of Scottish Football, but we all know who that position belongs to.

We’ve been subjected to the Rangers doing all they can to make up for their ineptitude on the park by showing what a big shot they are away from it, but it’s just painful to watch.

HITC reported on some comments made by Davie Provan to The Sun, and it’s clear that he feels Celtic have handled this one well – in stark contrast to others:

“Rangers are currently having a square go with Hampden’s sixth floor after the shambolic ballot to call the lower leagues”

“If you ask me, this isn’t about Gers trying to prevent Celtic’s inevitable crowning as champs — it is more like an attempt to remove SPFL board members they fear may be close to Peter Lawwell.”

“The Celtic powerbroker hasn’t said a word during this rammy. He hasn’t had to. Lawwell has the moral high ground to himself.”

It must be so tempting for Lawwell and the board to get involved here and drag the game through the mud even more, but there’s a lot to be said for quiet dignity.

In many ways it’s similar to a lot of things in life – if you need to make a huge fuss and tell everyone at any opportunity how important you are then it screams insecurity and also proves that it’s just not the case.

A lot of leagues around Europe have been forced to make similar decisions and of course there are some teams who are upset – but some clubs in this country could learn a lot from the way those teams have reacted.
