Hatate and Kyogo have the bragging rights over poor old AJ

It was mixed fortunes for three of our international Bhoys earlier today as Japan hosted Canada in an international friendly at the Denka Big Swan stadium in Niigata.

Alistair Johnston started for the Canadian national team but our Japanese Bhoys Kyogo and Reo Hatate had to make do with a place on the bench, showcasing the talent in an impressive Japanese squad.

In the end it was a disappointing day for the full back as he played 81 minutes off his sides 4-1 thumping whilst also receiving a booking for his troubles. The only consolation for Alistair was that he only had to face up to his team mates at club level for a short period of time as Reo Hatate was introduced in the 61st minute and Kyogo in the 73rd.

It was only a friendly after all, but I’m sure both Kyogo and Reo will have given Alistair a bit of friendly stick as is expected, when they all get back to Lennoxtown. Yes he’s sure to hear much more about today’s result when he returns to Celtic! The main thing for us though is that all three came through unscathed.
