Celtic supporters were given a boost by the news that Ross County would welcome away supporters to their Premiership opener versus St Johnstone. The Perth club issued their ticket prices after Ross County decided that they would be opening a section of their stadium to the Double Winners of last season. This prompted Celtic fans to ask JP Taylor as to whether the club had made similar inquiries to Hearts.
However, on the Celtic SLO’s Twitter, he said that Hearts rejected the approach about getting away fans to the Premiership opener on Saturday night at Tynecastle.
18,500 will be lucky enough to make the trip to Paradise for the friendly against West Ham with a further 24,500 going to the next home game. Hopefully, we will have more numbers there as the weeks progress but it is good news that some clubs are beginning to allow away fans back in. Ideally, there would be a scenario in the not-too-distant future whereby there are full stadiums and full away sections again. Given that there are some fans that are yet to get back into the ground, it is probably wise that clubs are looking after their own before looking at getting away fans back to games.
