Brendan Rodgers has responded to recent rumours that Kieran Tierney could be making a sensational return to Paradise.
When it comes to transfers, Brendan Rodgers is usually quite tight-lipped on the subject and when it comes to Kieran Tierney, the Celtic manager is no different With Kieran Tierney’s crumbling relationship with the Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, speculation has been building that Tierney may make a move back to Paradise.
Although the popular full-back has been linked to several clubs this summer, including Real Sociedad, Newcastle, and Aston Villa, Tierney indicated that he wouldn’t be against a move back to Glasgow in June.
Although the move seems unlikely due to the price tag that has been placed on Tierney, Brendan Rodgers still had to respond to questions on the subject earlier today in a media conference. Speaking to Celtic TV, the Celtic manager said…
“Listen, I would never speak about Kieran other than the time when I had him here. He’s an Arsenal player and that’s where he is at.”
“I think for Kieran himself, he’ll want to play. He’s not a young player anymore, he’s a player who will want to play football, no doubt. Especially where he was with Arsenal for his first couple of years and at times, captaining the club.”
“They’ve got a really strong squad, Mikel has done a fantastic job. But for Kieran himself, I’m sure he’ll be looking to go out and play – that’s the way I would see it.”
Kieran Tierney is a player of extreme skill and talent so, it would provide Celtic with a massive defensive and attacking boost if KT were to return. It was recently reported that Kieran hasn’t been training with the Arsenal first team, meaning that he is likely to be making his move this summer. Although he has options, hopefully, he chooses to make his move back to Glasgow.
