Hello Hello We Are The Timalloys

Celtic 5-1 Rangers, a Scottish Cup semi-final played on 21 March 1925 before a then record 101,707 people. The match saw McGrory bag a hat-trick, a great moment in its own right. However, the scenes after the match tell a greater story.

In the short time between the full time whistle and the start of the celebrations, Celtic fans had quickly created a version of a song which began ‘Hello Hello’.

Hello Hello we are the Timalloys

Hello Hello you’ll know us by our noise

We beat the Rangers in the cup

Was great to be alive

Not one, not two, not three, not four but five!

The moment was brilliant and the song lasted with the Celtic support for the rest of the season. It would return in a different guise a few years later with Billy Fullerton’s fascist razor gang and then on the terracing at Ibrox.
